NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (8/7/2016) A pedestrian was killed when she was struck by a car while walking across U.S. 13 (South DuPont Highway) near New Castle, Delaware State Police said this morning.

The incident happened in the southbound lanes about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Llangollen Boulevard.

Police said the victim, whose name was withheld pending notification of next of kin, was in or near a marked crosswalk but was not utilizing the crosswalk signal.

She was struck by a 2014 Hyundai Sonata, driven by  Ciaron L.H. Robertson, 18, of Bear. Robertson stopped at the scene.

Police said Robertson was wearing a seat belt and wasn’t injured.
