NEWPORT, DELAWARE (8/6/2016) A 24-year-old man was shot this evening in a vehicle north of Newport, the Delaware State Police said.

The incident was reported at 7:18 p.m. on Burnside Boulevard just west of Newport Gap Pike.

The victim, seated in his car, was found with a gunshot wound to his upper torso, police said.

He was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics and taken by ambulance to an area hospital. He was undergoing treatment and in stable condition, police said.

Police said they had no suspect information and asked anyone with tips to call 302-365-8567.
