LEWES, DELAWARE (8/3/2016) A 15-year-old boy was struck by a truck while jogging southwest of Lewes this morning, Delaware State Police said.

The incident happened about 8 a.m. at Hopkins and Beaver Dam roads.

Police said Anthony Monaco, of Rehoboth Beach, was jogging south on Hopkins with his father and entered the intersection to run east on Beaver Dam Road (Route 23), failing to see a 2014 Isuzu truck that was eastbound on the road.

The Sposato Landscaping truck, driven by Gary C. Frazier, 31, of Milton, struck the boy and came to an immediate stop, police said.

The teen was thrown to the ground by the impact. He was first flown to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, then transferred to Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Rockland. Police said he was in stable condition and his injuries apparently were not life-threatening.

His father was running slightly behind him and wasn’t injured.

Frazier, who was wearing a seat belt, also was not injured, police said.

No citations were issued.
