Police seek tips in death of 63-year-old Clayton man

James LeagerSMYRNA, DELAWARE (7/27/2016) Delaware State Police homicide detectives are seeking tips from the public after the death of a 63-year-old Clayton man who was assaulted northwest of Smyrna in April.

James Leager was found with injuries to his head and torso in his pickup truck on a farm in the 700 block of Blackbird-Greenspring Road on April 27. He died at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital on May 17 due to complications from blunt-force trauma, police said.

No arrests have been made and police said they are still investigating and would like to speak with anyone who may have seen or spoken with Leager in the days before the assault.

His truck was a bronze-colored 2011 Ford F-150 with Delaware registration.

Police said Leager was a lifelong resident of the Smyrna-Clayton area and was well known in the community.
