Pokémon GO player robbed in Dover

DOVER, DELAWARE (7/19/2016) A 20-year-old man was robbed while playing the Pokémon GO game on his cellphone, Dover police reported today.

The crime happened about 3 a.m. Saturday in the area of Legislative Avenue.

Three males called out to the man, who thought they also were playing the game and approached them, Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

The victim was assaulted and the trio took cash from his pockets and a gold necklace before fleeing toward Martin Luther King J. Boulevard.

“The Dover Police Department encourages game players to be aware of your surroundings and alert at all times.,” Hoffman said. “Players should avoid playing near roadways and in areas you are not familiar with, especially at night or in areas not heavily populated.”
