MILFORD, DELAWARE (5/6/2016) A Dover woman has been arrested in a hit-and-run crash into a building that left a 66-year-old woman with serious injuries, Milford police said early today.

The victim and another family member were standing inside a garage in the 4000 block of N. Sagamore Drive in the Hearthstone Manor community about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. An SUV traveling through the neighborhood at high speed crashed into the side of the garage and pushed a parked vehicle, pinning the 66-year-old between it and a wall of the garage, Sgt. Dwight Young said.

The victim was first taken to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital with lower extremity injury, then transferred to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

The driver of the SUV, Paula A. Gillespie, also known as Paula A. Phillips, turned herself in to Milford police on Friday night, Young said.

She was charged with second-degree vehicular assault, careless driving and other traffic offenses, then released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
