BEAR, DELAWARE (3/30/2016) One firefighter was injured in blazes that damaged nine vacant trailers Tuesday afternoon. Authorities said the fires were arson.

The fires were reported shortly before 5 p.m. at the Glasgow Court Trailer Park off Pulaski Highway (U.S. 40).

Several trailers were ablaze when Christiana firefighters arrived, said Michael G. Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.

He said this was the fifth time an arsonist has started fires in the trailer park since the beginning of last year. Previous fires were on Jan. 14 and Sept. 24, 2015, and Jan. 14 and March 14 this year. All were between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Chionchio said the fire hydrants in the area had been disabled, causing a delay in firefighting efforts.

A 24-year-old firefighter who suffered minor burns was taken to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in stable condition, said Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

Chionchio asked anyone with information on the arson or hydrant tampering to call  Delaware Crime Stoppers, which offers rewards, at 800-847-3333 or www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com, or deputy state fire marshals at 302-323-5375.
