Newark man sought in stabbing of woman, 24, at motel

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (3/15/2016) A 33-year-old Newark man is being sought in the stabbing of an ex-girlfriend at a motel on U.S. 40 west of New Castle, the Delaware State Police reproted today.

Kalyl Poindexter was waiting in a room rented by a 24-year-old woman at the West Motel, 711 Pulaski Highway, and stabbed her numerous times with a knife when they argued after she arrived about 6 p.m. Friday, police said.

Detectives have warrants charging Poindexter with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony and by a person prohibited.

He is described as 5-feet-8 and 150 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

Police said Poindexter has ties to the Newark and Philadelphia areas.
