1 arrested, 1 sought in Newark burglaries

NEWARK, DELAWARE (2/26/2016) One man was arrested and another is being sought on burglary charges after they were identified from surveillance video, Newark police reported Thursday.

The first burglary happened about 5 a.m. Christmas morning in the first block of North St. The second happened between Dec. 26 and 28. Electronics, tools and other items were taken in both crimes.

After they were identified from the video, police said, officers searched the suspects’ home on Jan. 6 and seized stolen property from both burglaries as well as drug paraphernalia.

Dustin Hults, 27, of Wilmington, turned himself in to police on Feb. 16. He was charged with two counts of second=-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, three counts of theft over $1,500, second-degree conspiracy, theft under $1,500 and seven counts of criminal mischief.

Donald Schiavello, 21, of Newark, is being sought on similar charges.

Hults was being held at Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $34,750 secured bail.
