OGLETOWN, DELAWARE (2/24/2016) A 55-year-old man struck by a car on Ogletown-Stanton Road (Route 4) on Tuesday night was not using a marked crosswalk and alcohol use by him is being considered a factor in the accident, Delaware State Police said this morning.

The pedestrian accident happened about 7:20 p.m. just west of Harmony Road.

Police said Marc B. Andrews, of Wilmington, was stepping into the westbound lanes from the north side of the road when he was struck by a 2002 Honda Accord.

The driver of the car, Tara M. Keller, 20, of Newark, brought her vehicle to a controlled stop in the roadway, police said.

Andrews was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics before being taken by ambulance to nearby Christiana Hospital in Stanton. He was in critical condition.

Keller was wearing a seat belt and wasn’t injured, police said.

The westbound lanes of Route 4 were closed about two hours as police investigated.
