DOVER, DELAWARE (2/14/2016) A 22-year-old woman was pistol-whipped during a home invasion south of Dover, the Delaware State Police said today.
The incident was reported about 11:15 p.m. Saturday in the 4000 block of Rhode Island Drive, in the Eagle Meadows community.
The woman answered a knock on the door and was confronted by two males with handguns. They forced their way in and held her and another 22-year-old woman and a male friend at gunpoint while they let another male in through a rear door.
The three intruders demanded money but were told there was none. One of the intruders then pistol-whipped the face of the woman who had answered the door.
The intruders then removed cellphones from all three of the victims as well as cash before they fled out the front door.
The woman who was pistol-whipped fled to a relative’s home nearby and called 911. She was later treated at a hospital for injuries police said were not life-threatening.
The other woman remained inside the home and also called 911. The male victim fled before police arrived.
Police said the victims may have been targeted and the home invasion wasn’t believed to be a random act.
The intruders were described as black and 16-22 years old. One wore a black mask, black jacket, black hooded sweatshirt and black gloves.
Another wore a black scarf around his face, a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, gloves and white sneakers.
The third also wore a black scarf around his face, a black hooded sweatshirt and light colored jeans. He was not reported to be armed, police said.
