CLAYMONT, DELAWARE (1/27/2016) A woman forced her way into a Claymont home and took cash and credit cards from the elderly resident, New Castle County police said Tuesday.

The theft happened Sunday in the 2700 block of Madison Ave. in the Kenilworth community.

The 76-year-old resident told police she was approached by the woman twice about snow shoveling and the second time the woman forced her way inside and walked through the home looking for things of value.

The victim repeatedly asked the woman to leave, police said, and she finally did.

The resident later discovered cash and a debit card were missing, said Cpl. Tom Jackson, a police spokesman.

Officer M.J. McNasby later found the debit card had been used at a nearby convenience store and obtained surveillance images.

The woman was described as white, 25-30 years old and with black hair. She was wearing black pants and a red sweatshirt.
