4 hurt in crash of pickup, SUV near Newark

NEWARK, DELAWARE (1/27/2016) Four people were injured Tuesday evening in the collision of a pickup truck and an SUV near Newark, authorities said.

The accident happened about 7:40 p.m. on South Chapel Street at Pencader Plaza.

A 52-year-old woman was treated for minor injuries and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital, said Sgt. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

A 34-year-old woman was treated for possible lower body injury and back pain before being taken to the hospital in stable condition, Haas said.

A 51-year-old man was evaluated by paramedics for neck and back pain before being taken to the hospital in stable condition.

No details were released on injuries to the fourth person injured, who also was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital.

Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.

Aetna Hose, Hook & Laddeer Company and Christiana Fire Company responded.
