Teen injured when dirt bike hits Jersey barrier

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (1/11/2016) A 17-year-old boy was taken to a hospital after his dirt bike crashed into a Jersey barrier, authorities said.

The incident happened about 1:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Lisa Drive near New Castle.

Emergency medical technicians from Good Will and Wilmington Manor fire companies immobilized the teen’s spine, said Lt. Michael A. McColley of New Castle County paramedics.

The boy was treated by paramedics for back, shoulder and arm pain as well as a possible ankle fracture, McColley said.

He was then taken by Good Will Fire Company ambulance to Christiana Hospital in stable condition.

McColley said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Delaware State Police were investigating the crash.
