DOVER, DELAWARE (1/9/2016) A man fled empty-handed after trying to rob a hotel near Dover at gunpoint, Delaware State Police said early today.
The robbery try at the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham, 1703 E. Lebanon Road, happened about 5:30 p.m. Friday.
A man in his early 20s engaged the clerk in conversation at the lobby counter, then produced a handgun and demanded money.
But the clerk did not comply, police said, and the man left. The clerk wasn’t hurt.
The robber was described as black, 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-8 and 120-140 pounds with a small build. He wore a dark hooded sweatshirt.
