Powerball jackpot climbs to $1.3 billion

Powerball logoDOVER, DELAWARE (1/10/2016) With no big winner in Saturday night’s drawing, the Powerball jackpot is climbing above $1 billion for the first time.

And the new jackpot, for Wednesday’s drawing, is likely to grow even more than the $1.3 billion set by lottery officials after Saturday’s numbers failed to produce a big winner. Saturday’s jackpot had initially been estimated at $675 million but grew to $900 million before the drawing.

The winning numbers drawn: 16-19-32-34-57, Powerball 13, Power Play 3.

Two tickets — in Connecticut and Texas — with the Power Play option matched five numbers to win $2 million prizes, and 14 others without Power Play won $1 million each. These were sold in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.
