Cellphones, lunch box taken in home invasion near Rehoboth Beach

REHOBOTH BEACH, DELAWARE (1/5/2016) Three masked intruders escaped with a lunch box and two cellphones after a home invasion near Rehoboth Beach on Monday night, Delaware State Police said.

The crime in the first block of Carriage Lane, in the Colonial East development, happened about 10:45 p.m. as two residents, a 42-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man, were watching television in the living room.

After they heard a noise outside, the woman opened the front door and three masked males pushed their way inside.

The woman was able to run from the house to a neighbor and call 911 as the three intruders confronted the man.

One of the intruders may have been armed with a handgun, police said. All were wearing dark clothing and gloves.

Investigators said they don’t think the crime was a random act and that the couple may have been targeted.

Police did not indicate what was in the lunch box.

Anyone with information is asked to call troopers at 302-856-5850.
