LEWES, DELAWARE (12/29/2015) A piece of pipe left in a shopping cart at the Lowe’s parking lot near Lewes brought state troopers and a lockdown of the store on Monday.

The pipe was reported as suspicious about noon at 20364 Plantations Road, off Route 1 in the Five Points area.

Troopers saw a 12-15 inch PVC pipe with two end caps attached and called in the bomb squad.

Police sealed off the parking lot at the entrances and asked employees and customers to remain in the store before it was determined the pipe was empty and harmless.

Troopers later determined the pipe with end caps had been purchased by a customer that morning but left in the infant seat of the shopping cart when he put other items in his vehicle.

Police said no charges will be filed.

The store was reopened about 2:30 p.m.
