2 teens charged in New Castle burglary

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (12/9/2015) Two teenagers have been charged with burglarizing the Buyrite Liquor Store, city police said today.

An alarm sounded at the store at 427 W. Seventh Street about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday and police found a glass door smashed out, Senior Lt. Adam P. Brams said.

About 45 minutes later, a K-9 unit found two suspects attempting to open car doors in the area of Battery Park, Brams said.

He said numerous stolen items were found on the teens, ages 13 and 17.

They were charged with third-degree burglary, tampering with a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, underage possession of alcohol and loitering.

Brams said the 13-year-old also had an outstanding warrant from Delaware State Police for robbery.

Both boys were being held at the Connections facility pending a court hearing.
