Shots fired at bowling alley party near Newport

NEWPORT, DELAWARE (11/21/2015) Shots were fired outside a bowling alley west of Newport where a youth birthday party was being held, according to reports from the scene.

The incident happened about midnight Friday at the Pleasant Hill Lanes in the 1000 block of W. Newport Pike.

About 8-12 shell casings were visible in the parking lot, and one bullet struck a car.

Apparent blood was visible on the pavement but no victims were reported.

Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.

They were assisted in crowd control at the scene by New Castle County police and other local departments.

Five people were taken into custody for questioning.
