36-year-old man struck, killed on U.S. 40 in Bear is identified

BEAR, DELAWARE (11/21/2015) A 36-year-old man was struck and killed while walking across U.S. 40 in Bear late Friday night, Delaware State Police said.

Police this afternoon identified the man killed as Michael W. Prang of Bear.

Christiana Fire Company responded to the westbound lanes just west of the Quintillo Drive intersection, in front of the Governors Square Shopping Center, at 11:11 p.m.

Prang was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was attempting to cross from south to north when he was struck by the front of a westbound 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, police said.

The driver of the truck, identified as Martin Limon, 52 of Newark, stopped at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident.

DelDOT reported the westbound lanes closed until just after 1 a.m.
