MINQUADALE, DELAWARE (11/18/2015) In the aftermath of several armed robberies of food delivery drivers in Bear and Glasgow, the New Castle County police are offering tips to local businesses making deliveries:

While en route to a delivery:

• Stay alert and aware of your surroundings, other motorists and pedestrians

• Continually note your location in case of an emergency.

• If you think you are being followed, make two consecutive right turns. If the subject is still following you, call 911 immediately.

• Keep your car doors locked.

• Never leave your vehicle unattended with the motor running.

• Check the immediate area for suspicious activity, especially persons moving into the shadows or trying to conceal themselves.

After delivery:

• Do not exit or leave a residence or building without scanning the area in which your vehicle is parked.

• If you are making multiple deliveries, keep extra money in your vehicle, not with you.

• Make frequent money drops back at your place of business.

Any interest in more information for delivery drivers should be directed to the New Castle County Police Community Services Unit at 302-395-8050.
