Elderly man injured in Prices Corner house fire

PRICES CORNER, DELAWARE (10/31/2015) A man in his 70s was in serious condition with burns and smoke inhalation after fire broke out in his home in the 2000 block of Faulkland Road, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 7:18 p.m. Friday.

Cpl. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics said the homeowner was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in serious but stable condition.

 

Flames were shooting out the front of the home when Cranston Heights firefighters arrived, said Michael Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.

Fire damage was estimated at $10,000. Chionchio said there were no smoke alarms in the home.

Investigators are still trying to determine how the fire started.

Five Points, Elsmere, Minquas, Mill Creek, Belvedere and Good Will fire companies also responded.
