FRANKFORD, DELAWARE (10/8/2015) A 20-year-old Seaford man was killed Wednesday when his motorcycle struck the side of an SUV that turned in front of him south of Frankford, Delaware State Police said.
The crash happened about 5:15 p.m. at the Pepper and Gum roads intersection.
The man killed was identified as Toyana S. Knight Jr.
He was driving a 2003 Suzuki GSXR600 northbound on Pepper Road (County Road 376) when a 17-year-old boy from Frankford, driving a southbound 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, failed to see the motorcycle and turned left to go onto Gum Road, police said.
Knight braked but struck the right side of the SUV.
Knight, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Maryland, where he was pronounced dead.
The teenager, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured. Police said they were withholding the boy’s name due to his age and the ongoing investigation.
The intersection was closed about 3½ hours as the crash was investigated and the wreckage cleared.
