FREDERICA, DELAWARE (10/7/2015) Four people were taken to a hospital after a small car rear-ended a school bus on Route 12 about halfway between Felton and Frederica this afternoon.
The accident involving a Lake Forest School District bus happened about 3:50 p.m. on Midstate Road (Route 12) just west of Robbins Road.
Jerry Johnston, assistant chief of the Frederica Fire Company, said two students who were on the bus and two people in a small Honda Civic EX that struck the rear of the bus were taken by ambulances to Milford Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the car suffered a hand injury, he said, and the other injuries appeared to be minor.
John Barr, head of transportation for the school district, said he was called by the bus driver notifying him of the accident. He said about 25 students were on the bus and they were checked out by medics before being released.
Skid marks about 145 feet long were visible on the roadway.
Delaware State Police are investigating the accident but have not released details.
Frederica, Felton and Milford ambulances responded.
