5 hurt in Hockessin crash

HOCKESSIN, DELAWARE (9/16/2015) Five people were injured, two of them seriously, in the collision of a car and SUV on Limestone Road (Route 7) on Tuesday night, authorities said today.

The frontal collision happened about 8:05 p.m. at the Haileys Trail/Quail Hollow Drive intersection.

A 68-year-old man who was driving the SUV was treated at the scene for a head injury as well as possible upper and lower extremity injuries before being taken to Christiana Hospital in serious condition, said Cpl. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

An 8-year-old boy was was a passenger in the SUV was treated by paramedics for a possible head injury and taken by Delaware State Police helicopter to Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for children in Rockland. He was in serious condition, Haas said.

Three others who were in the car were taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, Haas said.

State police are investigating the crash.

Hockessin, Mill Creek and Cranston Heights fire companies responded.
