2 arrested, 2 sought in Brandywine Hundred bicycle thefts

County police carBRANDYWINE HUNDRED, DELAWARE (9/8/2015) Two youths were arrested and two others are being sought in connection with bicycle thefts in the Chapelcroft and Devonshire neighborhoods, New Castle County police said today.

Police also are seeking the owners of four bicycles recovered.

Officers investigated burglaries in the first block of Burnett Drive and the 2900 block of Cheshire Road about 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Officer First Class Tom Jackson said.

One victim reported he saw several people in his garage trying to take a bicycle. They were chased off and a description was later given to the officers.

Police arrested two juvenile suspects nearby, Jackson said. They were charged with third-degree burglary, attempted theft and conspiracy.

Officers recovered four bicycles and are attempting to identify the owners:

  • Red Schwinn mountain bike
  • Black Pacific mountain bike
  • Green Schwinn mountain bike painted black
  • Dark blue/purple Huffy mountain bike

Anyone missing a bicycle is asked to report it to police at 302-573-2800.
