2 brothers charged with attempted murder in Dover

DOVER, DELAWARE (9/5/2015) Two Dover brothers were charged with trying to kill a 20-year-old man by shooting him twice within two hours on Friday, city police said today. The victim was in critical but stable condition.

The victim was first shot with a graze wound to the leg about 9:30 p.m. on Old Forge Drive in the Hamlet community, Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said. But he was gone by the time police arrived.

Just after 11 p.m., the man was shot in the chest at the Whatcoat Apartments, and police then learned of the earlier shooting.

Hoffman said detectives developed Alex Joseph, 22, and Johnson Joseph, 19, both of the first block of Freedom Drive, as suspects. They were arrested at their home with assistance from Smyrna police, Hoffman said.

He said detectives located a gun believed used in the shooting of the 20-year-old.

Both suspects were charged with attempted murder and conspiracy.

Alex Joseph also was charged with possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, assault and reckless endangering.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 302-736-7111.
