Fire heavily damages Ogletown home

OGLETOWN, DELAWARE (8/30/2015) A fire that heavily damaged a home in Ogletown this morning was started when a cigarette ignited combustibles in a bedroom, investigators said.

The blaze was reported about 8 a.m. in the 100 block of Kingswood Road in the Birchwood Park community.

Flames were shooting from the ranch house when Christiana Fire Company arrived, said Michael Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.

The fire was ruled accidental.

One resident, who was not home at the time the fire was discovered, is being assisted by the American Red Cross, Chionchio said.

No injuries were reported.

Damage was estimated at $100,000.
