Driver ejected, killed in crash near Laurel

DSP logoLAUREL, DELAWARE (8/26/2015) An unbelted driver was ejected from his car and killed when he lost control and the vehicle overturned on a curve east of Laurel, according to Delaware State Police.

Police said this morning the victim’s identity is not yet known.

The accident happened about 8:10 p..m. Tuesday on Laurel Road (Route 24) just west of Christ Church.

The 2005 Cadillac CST was westbound at high speed when the driver failed to negotiate the slight left curve, crossed the eastbound lane and went off the road. The car struck a drainage ditch and began to flip and roll, with the driver ejected and landing on the south edge of the road, police said. The Cadillac came to rest just off the south edge of the road in an upright position.

The driver, the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Laurel Road was closed about three hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
