Horse killed in hit-run buggy crash

DSP logoDOVER, DELAWARE (8/6/2015) A horse died after being struck by an automobile west of Dover late Wednesday, Delaware State Police said.

A horse and buggy, driven by a 44-year-old man, had stopped at the stop sign on Sharon Hill Road at West Denneys Road about 10 p.m.

Police said the horse may have become spooked and jutted into the eastbound travel lane of West Denneys Road, where it was struck by an unknown vehicle heading east that did not stop.

The driver of the buggy was not hurt but the horse died at the scene, police said.
