2 charged in abuse of elderly man near Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, DELAWARE (7/22/2015) Two Middletown-area siblings were charged today with abusing an elderly man in their care, New Castle County police said.

Kelly Chytrenko, 47, and Davis Deibert, 44, both of the first block of Horseshoe Court in the Bridle Run community, were taken into custody earlier today at police headquarters in Minquadale.

The investigation began Monday when police learned a 73-year-old man had been taken by ambulance from the home to Union Hospital in Elkton, Maryland, late Sunday night.

An officer visited the home just east of the Maryland state line and observed the soiled bed of the victim in the living room, Officer First Class Tracey Duffy said.

She said the officer learned the elderly man had not seen a doctor in 4 years while under the couple’s care, and that he was suffering from bed sores, malnutrition and dehydration.

Chytrenko and Deibert were charged with abuse of an infirmed adult and released on $1,000 unsecured bail with a no-contact order.
