NEWARK, DELAWARE (7/9/2015) A 36-year-old New Castle man has been charged in the burglary of tools last month from a construction company that had fired him, Newark police said this morning.

The tools were reported stolen overnight June 22 from a home under renovation in the 400 block of S. College Ave., Lt.  Bill Hargrove said.

Workers had seen Jonathan P. Coleman Jr. hanging around the area during the day for no apparent reason, Hargrove said, after he had been fired a few weeks earlier and was not allowed on the property.

Detectives searched Coleman’s home Wednesday and recovered tools taken in the burglary from his truck, Hargrove said.

Coleman was charged with burglary and theft and released on $12,500 unsecured bond.

Hargrove asked anyone with other information to contact Detective Michael Watson at 302-366-7100, ext. 3132 or Michael.Watson@cj.state.de.us.
