16-year-old boy shot in Bear

BEAR, DELAWARE (6/29/2015) A 16-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting in Bear, New Castle County police reported Sunday.

The shooting happened about 6:30 p.m. Friday at Penman Drive and Sandburg Place, Officer First Class Tracey Duffy said.

When officers arrived, the victim was lying on the shoulder of the roadway.

He was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital and was to undergo an operation, Duffy said, but no condition update was released.

Witnesses reported that a dark sedan pulled over along the side of Penman Drive, Duffy said, and they then saw the victim flee but collapse about 20 yards away. The car then fled toward Songsmith Drive.
