NEWARK, DELAWARE (6/22/2015) An inmate who escaped from a prison work-release crew in Wilmington was captured by University of Delaware police in Newark, authorities said today.

David Blunt, 30, of New Castle, had been serving a one-year sentence at the Plummer Community Corrections Center in Wilmington for violation of probation on a theft conviction when he fled the work crew near North Market Street on Tuesday.

When UD officers spotted him on the campus on Saturday, Blunt fled but was captured after a short foot pursuit, said Jason Miller, Department of Correction spokesman.

Blunt is being held at Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington on charges of violation of probation, escape after conviction and resisting arrest.
