NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (6/7/2015) A store on Route 141 near New Castle was robbed at gunpoint, Delaware State Police reported today.
The crime happened about 5:05 a.m. at the Market Place, 752 W. Basin Road (Route 141).
A masked man confronted a 57-year-old clerk, removed numerous cartons of cigarettes from behind the sales counter, then demanded cash from the register. She handed over money and he fled the store, walking to the north.
Neither the clerk nor a male customer inside the store were injured, police said.
The robber was described as white, about 5-feet-8 and 170-190 pounds. He was wearing a grey sweatshirt and a dark hat.
