Man knocked out in carjacking near Hartly

DSP logoHARTLY, DELAWARE (6/1/2016) A 45-year-old man was knocked out when he stopped his car northeast of Hartly to help what he thought was a stranded motorist but turned out to be a carjacking, Delaware State Police said this morning.

The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Lockwood Chapel Road.

The victim helped the apparently stranded driver by starting her car, then as he was getting out of the vehicle, someone else struck him in the head with an unknown object, police said. When he regained consciousness, his SUV, a 2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer with Delaware license plate PC424217, had been stolen.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital and admitted with undetermined head injuries, police said.

The female carjacker was described as white with blond hair.

No description was available on the other person.
