WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (5/21/2015) A 24-year-old woman was in stable condition after being wounded by gunfire Wednesday afternoon, Wilmington police said.
The shooting was reported at 3;23 p.m. near Sixth and Madison streets.
Police arrived to find the victim suffering from a graze wound to the head.
She was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics and then flown by Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Hospital.
The victim told officers she was in the 600 block of Madison St. when several gunshots rang out and she felt pain in her head, police said. She then went to a nearby community center for help.
Police had no suspect information.
