Funeral director charged with theft

LAUREL, DELAWARE (5/8/2015) The former owner of a Laurel funeral services company has been charged with defrauding an elderly victim from Harrington of more than $6,000, Delaware State Police said Thursday.

Deborah E. Harris-Nock, 61, of Greenwood, turned herself in to detectives after a warrant was obtained for her arrest.

Police began investigating last month when the caretaker for an 88-year-old Harrington man, who had pre-paid $6,300 in 2008 to Deborah E. Harris-Nock Funeral Services, found the company had been closed in 2013.

Police said numerous attempts were made to get reimbursement without success.

Harris-Nock was charged with theft $1500 or greater and victim 62 years of age or older . She was released on $2,000 unsecured bond.
