Port of Wilmington worker indicted on drug charges

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (4/29/2015) A Port of Wilmington employee was arrested Tuesday after his indictment on three counts of attempted possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, authorities said.

Ronald Mays, 63, of Wilmington, faces up to 60 years in prison and a fine up to $3 million if convicted, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia.

The indictment unsealed Tuesday alleges that Mays attempted to possess cocaine in January, February and March of last year in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The indictement says the January incident happened in Upper Chichester Township.

He was arrested by special agents with Homeland Security Investigations.

The indictment was announced by announced U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger and the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sozi Pedro Tulante.
