NEWARK, DELAWARE (4/26/2016) A 4-year-old boy was critically injured this afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle backing out of a driveway east of Newark, authorities said.
The accident happened about 2:10 p.m. in the first block of Withams Road in the Stafford community.
The boy was treated on the scene for possible internal, pelvic and head injuries, said Cpl. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics, then taken by state police helicopter to Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Rockland.
New Castle County police are investigating.
