Truck breaks pole, downs wires; power out in Mill Creek

MILL CREEK, DELAWARE (4/24/2015) A truck knocked down a utility pole and wires, causing a fire in the roadway and cutting electric service for scores of Delmarva Power customers this morning, according to reports from the scene.

The accident happened about 8:45 a.m. in the 3700 block of Mill Creek Road.

A P.J. Fitzpatrcick Inc. truck went down an embankment after striking the pole for unknown reasons.

No injuries were reported.

 

New Castle County police are investigating the crash.

Mill Creek Road is closed from Stoney Batter to Graves roads.

Delmarva Power reports 87 customers without service, which they expect to have restored by 1 p.m.
