DOVER, DELAWARE (4/8/2015) A Kent County man has been indicted on a charge of first degree murder in the death of his wife, who has been missing since Jan. 10. No body has been found.

The Kent County grand jury also indicted Cortez A. Hamilton Sr., 32, on charges of possession of a deadly weapon — a hammer — during commission of a felony and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Keisha Hamilton went missing from her home in the Twin Willows neighborhood south of Smyrna.

Cortez Hamilton Sr. was arrested in Indiana later that day on charges of assault, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Their two children – 4-year-old Colette and 4-month-old Cortez Jr. – were found safe with him when he was arrested.

According to the indictment, the two children witnessed “by sight or sound” the “violent felony” against Keisha Hamilton.

He was returned to Delaware on Jan. 22 and has been held at Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in lieu of $402,000 cash bond.

The indictment Monday came after a Delaware State Police investigation, said Carl Kanefsky, spokesman for the state Department of Justice.

He said prosecutors believe they have enough evidence to bring the murder charge even though no body has been found. An extensive search in the area around her home was conducted in January.
