3 arrested on drug charges near Rehoboth Beach

REHOBOTH BEACH, DELAWARE (3/3/2015) Three people have been charged after an investigation into drug sales from a home near Rehoboth Beach, state police said today.

The arrests came after troopers searched the home in the 35000 block of Spruce Road, in the Pine Valley Mobile Home Park, about 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Police said they found 220 bags of heroin and about 1.6 grams of cocaine.

Djuan Sheppard, 27, and Karen M. Reale, 38, both residents of the home, and David L. Harris, 43, of Rehoboth Beach, were taken into custody inside the home. Police said Harris attempted to hide in the bathroom.

Sheppard was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a controlled substance (heroin), receiving a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $43,000 secured bond.

Police said a .380 caliber handgun found in Sheppard’s car had been reported stolen in October from a home on Sweet Briar Road near Lewes.

Reale was charged with maintaining a drug property. She was released on $2,000 unsecured bond.

Harris was charged with resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held at Sussex Correctional in lieu of $2,000 secured bond.
