Woman robbed in home invasion near Dover

DSP logoDOVER, DELAWARE (2/19/2015) A 30-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint in a home invasion near Dover, state police said.

The robbery happened about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday in 100 block of S. Governor Blvd. in the Capitol Park neighborhood.

The victim was out walking her two dogs when a man approached asking to use her cellphone, saying he had a vehicle problem.

She handed him her phone but he was wearing gloves and couldn’t make the call. As he handed it back to her he showed a handgun and forced her back into her home and into the bedroom, where her two boys, ages 6 and 4 months, were asleep, police said.

The robber rummaged through her dresser drawers and closet, then fled with jewelry and cash.

The woman and her children were not hurt, police said.

The robber was described as black, about 6-feet-1 and 240 pounds, with a black hooded sweatshirt. He may have been using a white SUV.
