7-Eleven store robbed at gunpoint near New Castle

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (1/20/2015) Two masked robbers, one armed with a handgun, robbed a 7-Eleven convenience store near New Castle on Monday — the second time this month the store has been victimized.

The latest robbery happened about 12:45 a.m. at 284 Christiana Road (Route 273), state police said.

When the two entered the store, one demanded money from the clerk, who turned over an undisclosed amount from the cash register, while the second stood nearby with a gun.

The robbers ran off toward Airport Road.

The clerk, a 50-year-old man, was not injured.

Both robbers were male and wore black jackets. One was 5-feet-2 to 5-feet-6 and about 175 pounds. He wore a black jacket.  The other, with the handgun, was 5-feet to 5-feet-6 and about 200 pounds.

Police asked anyone with information to call troopers at 302-834-2630.
