WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (1/15/2015) One person was shot when he opened fire as police were trying to remove him from a vehicle after a traffic stop this evening and an officer returned fire, police said.
The incident happened about 4:45 p.m. in the first block of Vandever Ave.
The wounded person was taken to Christiana Hospital in a state police helicopter.
His condition was not available, said Sgt. Andrea Janvier, a city police spokeswoman.
No police officers were injured.
Other occupants of the vehicle were removed without incident.
