Wilmington shooting ‘potentially fatal;’ 2nd shooting reported

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (1/14/2015) A 24-year-old man was shot in Wilmington this evening and a paramedics spokesman said his wounds were “potentially fatal.”

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. along Concord Avenue between Elliott Place and Monroe Avenue, where police cordoned off the scene at a gas station.

The victim was in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived and was quickly taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, Sgt. Michael McColley of New Castle County paramedics said.

CPR was in progress when the man was taken into the emergency department, McColley said.

Wilmington police later said the victim was in critical condition.

About 6:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man arrived by private vehicle at the Wilmington Hospital emergency room. Police said he had been shot in his left foot and was in stable condition. Police did not know the location of that shooting or indicate if it was related to the earlier shooting on Concord Avenue.
