SMYRNA, DELAWARE (1/11/2015) A trespassing and assault complaint led to the arrest of one man on drug charges and police are seeking a second man, Smyrna police said Saturday.
A 61-year-old resident of the 800 block of Fayette Road in Smyrna asked police for help in removing a man he had allowed in August to stay in his home for two weeks but the man hasn’t left nor have two of his friends.
The 61-year-old was involved in an argument with one of the unwelcome guests, Ronald Miles, 20, of the first block of Harkins Drive in Smyrna, during which Miles damaged a door inside the home and punched the older man in the face and abdomen, police said.
When officers arrived to investigate, they smelled marijuana and found drug paraphernalia inside the bedroom Miles was using, police said.
Officers took Miles into custody and obtained a search warrant, police said, later finding 72.8 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, five prescription pills and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia in the room.
Miles was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, offensive touching and criminal mischief. He was released on $600 unsecured bond.
Police said they also located drug paraphernalia inside a second bedroom found to be occupied by Taijai T. Davis, 20, of the 800 block of W. Division St. in Dover. A warrant was issued for Davis and police asked anyone with information to contact police at 302-653-9217.
