DELAWARE (1/7/2015) An arctic air mass and strong gusty winds will bring dangerous weather conditions tonight, forecasters say.

The wind chill is expected to plunge to around 10 degrees below zero, the National Weather Service says.

The service issued a wind chill advisory from 10 p.m. until 9 a.m. Thursday.

Today’s high temperature will only reach the upper 20s upstate and around 30 downstate, with a slight chance of snow showers — already seen in parts of the state this morning.

Temperatures are expected to range from 6 degrees to 19 degrees above zero in Delaware and nearby areas, with the wind gusting up to 45 to 50 mph starting this afternoon and continuing into the evening. Sustained winds from the northwest will be 20 to 30 mph.

People venturing outdoors will be subject to frostbite and hypothermia, the weather service says. If you must venture out, bundle up all exposed skin.
